Oh heeeeey. It’s been a while. Put on some make up, did not put on clothes #robelife, and made a quick little video, complete with cloth diapers & vacuum cleaner in the background. ——- It felt really good to record this cover for my Patreon patrons, and I was so grateful to get back up on that horse. I don’t know that I’m 100% back to feeling like myself, or recognizing the body/face in the mirror post baby, but this is the closest I’ve felt so far, and maybe as close as I’ll get because I am a different person now, things are different, have changed.
I’m definitely letting things be a little less perfect…and that feels great.

Hello again. It’s been a couple months.
I had a baby. All is well.

I’ve been consumed by this baby & my other baby, the musical I’ve been writing: @rosettaproject_musical (aka WAKEMAN) and there’s been no energy left for social media or much communication of any kind really - in fact those things (soc. media/communication) take such an inordinate amount of energy/brain power/time I should probably see a therapist about it. …But I wanted to get this post out because people have started to express worry about my well being and the baby’s.

We’re fine, great in fact!

Having a kid so late in life means that most everyone I know that’s going to has already gone through the experience and really wants to prepare you for how exhausted you’ll be. Everyone was right, we’re exhausted, but I expected to be, so no surprise there.

I’ve never been a baby person and I never knew if I wanted kids or not - so it’s been wild to find myself so enamored with this creature. That’s a bit surprising. I find this baby so exceedingly cute, a degree to which I usually reserve exclusively for puppies.

I was also surprised by how much I hated the hospital. We had a couple lovely nurses, but overall those first 5 days were a nightmare, and what a sad way to think back on that experience. It’s a big bummer. If I had to do it over I’d hire a doula, even though I had a planned c section, so that we could have someone to advocate for us. Beware the “baby friendly” certified hospital, our experience was “mommy/daddy hostile”. (Our nurses for sure had a tough time navigating policies they didn’t agree with).

If anyone is curious - this is an IVF baby. I’m always curious, so…

I have so many more thoughts, that might border on overshare (endometriosis!), but I think this is all I can muster today.

Thank you to everyone who has sent words of love and support and gifts for the bebé (as Moira would say).
